Personal Life and Education
Dr. Vikas was born on 26 December 1976 in the state of Haryana. He belongs to a middle class Hindu family and his caste is Haryanvi. He is one of the most successful teachers in India. His father and mother were professors at Delhi University and he used to teach Hindi literature professionally. He is a teacher and most of his income comes from teaching. His wife’s name is Dr. Taruna Verma and he has a son named Swastik Divyakirti. Dr. Vikas has always been a person connected to culture and land.
Dr. Vikas completed his middle school and high school from Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Haryana and after completing high school, he received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History from Delhi University and after BA, he received a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Hindi Literature and Sociology from Delhi University. He was so studious that he has LLB, M.Phil. and even a PhD degree. While he had a lot of qualifications, he also got a PG degree in English to Hindi translation from Delhi University.
Career
While he had a lot of qualifications, he took the UPSC exam in 1996 and cleared it in his first attempt and became an IAS officer and got appointed in the Home Ministry, but he decided to resign his job and decided to teach students to prepare for UPSC and started his own coaching class, Drishti.
Vikas Sir holds a unique teaching style to help students preparing for UPSC exam, which will help them in their speech as well as lead a life as a respectable person. He started giving his lectures in Hindi, which made it easier for students to understand the syllabus. Then in 2017, he started his YouTube channel “Drishti IAS” on which he started guiding students all over India, where he used to post a lot of content for students like study material, various information points, lectures, and exam strategies which help students immensely in their preparation. Currently, it has 3.75 million subscribers.
Vikas Sir is the director of Drishti IAS Coaching Classes. Vikas Sir is also the editor of an annual magazine called ‘Drishti Current Affairs’.
